Grizzly Bears fishing on Katmai Island, Alaska

This is the second pciture of this trip. This time instead of one lazy bear sitting on his butt literally, we have three really lazy bears fishing. I say lazy becasue if the fish swimming up stream did not jump into the bears mouth, the bear made no move to catch it. A little left or a little right, the bear let it go by. This was such a cool trip.

@Dimitrios: I do not know the exact distance, but this was shoot with a 200mm lens. We were pretty close, up on a platform. But I don't think the bears looked over at us once.

@Ins@no: The salmon were swimming up stream and trying to jump the falls. They did not always make it the first time. Every now and then a bear got lucky.

@Yvon: Thank you. I have been to every state in the U.S. except Hawaii, and Alaska was the best of the best. It is a place I would recommend everyone see in their lifetime. And I will be going back.

This is the sort of brilliant shot I have only even seen on programs by David Attenborough ( we have one poor old bear at Taronga Zoo in Sydney, and he sits with his back to the crowds - who can blame him).
